Gourmet Coffee Lounge and Music Venue inspired by the 16th century architecture of "Capela dos Ossos", a chapel of human skulls and bones built by monks as a reminder of the fragility of life and mortality, in Evora, Portugal.

In addition to great coffee, and quality cocktails, choice wine, and selection of craft beer as well as local brews. Chapel of Bones offers a variety of artistic entertainment such as, but not limited to: live music, burlesque shows, independent films, & alternative dance parties all in a unique and intriguing atmosphere.

ABOUT US

The building has and continues to house several bands from Raleigh's music scene and metal community since 2005. It had quickly become a staple in the city when it opened as Volume 11 Tavern until closing in early 2013 and reopening as The Maywood. Equally or even more so, The Maywood immediately became a haven for so many bands and heavy music enthusiasts and remained true for 8 years. Sadly, in 2021, the venue closed its doors like so many other businesses impacted from the aftermath of COVID-19's pandemic. We decided this venue was too important to the music scene and community to stay shut down any longer, and Chapel of Bones was born.

Chapel of Bones welcomes all walks of life and honors the memories of both Volume 11 and The Maywood, we raise our horns to the sky as we fill your cup with amazing coffee and your ears and eyes with sounds and sights all through the night!
