Chapel of Bones is a gourmet coffee lounge and events venue (located at 658 Maywood Ave in Raleigh, North Carolina USA) and opened in 2023.
But the building itself has significant history in the Raleigh, NC music scene:
2005 – 2013 (Volume 11 Tavern)
The venue building has been hosting events for international and North Carolina area bands since 2005. Originally opened as ‘Volume 11 Tavern’, the venue quickly become a staple in the city.
2013 – 2021 (The Maywood)
Eventually the venue reopened as The Maywood. The Maywood immediately became a haven for many bands and heavy music enthusiasts. Sadly, in 2021 the venue was greatly impacted from the aftermath of COVID-19 pandemic and unfortunately closed it’s doors.
2023 – Present (Chapel of Bones)
The team at Chapel of Bones decided this venue was too important to the music scene and community to stay shut down any longer… so Chapel of Bones was born in 2023.
Chapel of Bones is inspired by the 16th century architecture of “Capela dos Ossos”, a chapel of human skulls and bones built by monks as a reminder of the fragility of life and mortality, in Evora, Portugal.
Chapel of Bones welcomes all walks of life and honors the memories of both Volume 11 and The Maywood. We raise our horns to the sky as we fill your cup with amazing coffee and your ears and eyes with sounds and sights all through the night!

No, we only offer general admission for our events.
Some events are all ages, while others may be 18+ or 21+. Please check the event details before purchasing tickets.
Small bags are allowed, but large bags and backpacks are not permitted. All bags are subject to search.
Yes, we offer wheelchair-accessible seating and facilities. Contact us in advance for further assistance.
Outside food and drinks, weapons, illegal substances, and professional cameras (unless authorized) are prohibited.
Yes, we have a full coffee menu. We also offer a full bar during scheduled events.
We host food trucks often and food can be purchased directly from the truck(s).
No, outside food and beverages are not allowed.
Yes, we have limited on-site parking and nearby street parking is available.
Photography policies vary by artist. Flash photography and professional cameras are typically prohibited.
Re-entry is generally allowed. You may be subject to search upon re-entry. This policy may change depending on the event.
